  • Supreme Court Justice Scalia: ‘Your Rights Are Not Absolute And Can Be Taken Away

Justice-Scalia-InterviewJustice Antonin Scalia said, “No because it’s not absolute. As Ruth has said there are very few freedoms that are absolute. I mean your person is protected by the Fourth Amendment but as I pointed out when you board a plane someone can pass his hands all over your body that’s a terrible intrusion, but given the danger that it’s guarding against it’s not an unreasonable intrusion. And it can be the same thing with acquiring this data that is regarded as effects. That’s why I say its foolish to have us make the decision because I don’t know how serious the danger is in this NSA stuff, I really don’t.”

  • Father Shot And Killed As Police Try To Take Child

    William Reddie

William Reddie, a 32-year-old single father from Michigan, was shot and killed as local Child Protective Services (CPS) officials and police officers attempted to remove his 3-year-old son from the home.

An anonymous tipster claiming that Reddie had marijuana in the home set off a string of incidents which turned a happy toddler into an orphan – and led a local newspaper to conduct its own investigation and issue its own report.

  • Obama Administration Admits Use Of “Warrantless Searches” Of US Citizens
Just over a month ago, we reported on the Supreme Court’s ruling that police may search a home without obtaining a warrant thus denigrating the Fourth Amendment to the funeral pyre under the Obama Administration’s totalitarian might. Today that decision (and the end of the 4th) were confirmed when the country’s top intelligence official confirmed in a letter to Congress that the Obama administration has conducted warrantless searches of Americans’ communications as part of the National Security Agency’s surveillance operations. While efforts were made to suggest agencies do not deliberately track Americans’ emails, phone calls, and online activity without a warrant, as Sen. Wyden notes, “the facts show that was misleading.”

  • Border Patrol to Arivaca, Arizona: “You Have No Rights Here” From the US Border Patrol website:

The priority mission of the Border Patrol is preventing terrorists and terrorists weapons, including weapons of mass destruction, from entering the United States. Undaunted by scorching desert heat or freezing northern winters, they work tirelessly as vigilant protectors of our Nation’s borders.

Despite their stated mission, CBP’s actions speak louder than words. Their recent behavior suggests that their “priority” mission of catching terrorists may not be their principal concern. Their “tireless work” has bled over and imposed on the daily affairs and civil rights of the residents of Arivaca, Arizona. The situation has now escalated to the point where the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has had to get involved.

  • Police may stop drivers based only on anonymous tip, rules Supreme Court

Law enforcement officials may now stop US drivers based only on the information gleaned in an anonymous tip phoned in by a caller who dialed 911, the Supreme Court ruled in a tight decision Tuesday.

The high court ruled 5-4 that relying only on a comment from a 911 caller is reasonable because “a 911 call has some features that allow for identifying and tracking callers.” In most cases the justices are split along ideological lines but Tuesday’s decision was enough to split the two most conservative-minded justices, with Justice Clarence Thomas writing the majority opinion and Justice Antonin Scalia leading the dissent.

  • IRS Claims Need to Track Taxpayer License Plates

Bloomberg reports that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Forest Service (among others) have awarded nearly half a million dollars to Vigilant Solutions, a California-based company that provides tools for tracking license plates and for accessing license plate databases.

Why would the IRS and the Forest Service need the technology to track the license plates of Americans? Bloomberg explains:

  • Pre-Crime Systems Now Actively Monitoring the Internet: “The Computer Algorithm Learns the Pattern and Produces a Prediction”

pre-crime-algorithmsWith revelations that the National Security Agency has collected some 20 trillion phone calls and emails via an expansive nationwide surveillance network, most Americans have already come to the realization that everything they do is being monitored.

But many shrug off Big Brother’s prying eyes by suggesting that, since they aren’t doing anything wrong, they have nothing to worry about.

That may have been true several years ago, but the digital surveillance systems of today are far more advanced than most people understand. No longer are these machines simply recording the data and storing them in some historical archive to be pulled at a later date should the government ever have reason to take a closer look at your personal life.

  • Georgia Governor Signs “Guns Everywhere” Into Law

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed into law Wednesday a bill the National Rifle Association has called “the most comprehensive pro-gun reform legislation introduced in recent history” and critics have labeled the “‘guns everywhere’ bill.”

The new law, effective July 1, allows licensed gun owners to bring guns into bars and government buildings that don’t have metal detectors, including city halls, libraries, recreational centers, city office buildings, and fire stations, USA Today reported. The “Safe Carry Protection Act” also allows school districts to permit some employees to be armed in schools.

  • I-Team: Bundy’s ‘ancestral rights’ come under scrutiny

Federal authorities remain silent about their next plans to confront Cliven Bundy at his Bunkerville ranch.

Both sides are fighting over history, with federal courts denying Bundy’s claims of “ancestral rights” on the Virgin River valley. The I-Team dug into century-old records to examine Bundy’s claims.

At the Bunkerville camp next to Cliven Bundy’s ranch, there are constant reminders of history.

  • Right wing disinformation: Bundy’s Land Is NOT Solar Farm for Harry Reid

Right wing seizes on Bundy trespass to go after Harry Reid-

When a local issue goes national, it is often warped into other political agendas. We see that clearly with Cliven Bundy’s 20 years of public land cattle trespass coming to a head.

A cursory search shows a sudden explosion of articles claiming Nevada’s senior senator, Harry Reid, wants Bundy’s land to build a solar plant to enrich himself and his son. Since Reid is the U.S. Senate Majority Leader, the radical right has every incentive to harm him by buying this false claim. Such a blatant lie needs to be exposed.

  • NYT Brings the Race Card into Bundy Ranch Standoff to Distract from Govt Land Grab (UPDATED)

UPDATE:  Righting the wrongs and exposing the lies. See my update to this post entitled — EXPOSED: NYT Caught EDITING, DISTORTING Cliven Bundy’s remarks! See full clip.” ORIGINAL POST:

Cliven BundyProgressives are so predictable. Apparently, a reporter and photographer from the New York Times decided to show up last weekend at Cliven Bundy’s ranch for Bundy’s daily conference.

The fact that the NYT popped up on the scene should have set off alarm bells and warnings with someone, anyone but it did not. Bundy not being a seasoned interviewee stepped into a land mine.

Bundy, it can be said, although expressing his freedom of speech and thought said something that the New York Times rag could twist, turn and regurgitate making this one statement a major distraction for weeks to come.

The endgame, of course, is to distract and to drive a wedge between public opinion and the massive BLM land grab going on across the United States. In this case, Nevada.

  • ‘Hero’ Cliven Bundy Wants to Tell You Something About ‘The Negro’

    Via New York Times:

But if the federal government has moved on, Mr. Bundy — a father of 14 and a registered Republican — has not.

He said he would continue holding a daily news conference; on Saturday, it drew one reporter and one photographer, so Mr. Bundy used the time to officiate at what was in effect a town meeting with supporters, discussing, in a long, loping discourse, the prevalence of abortion, the abuses of welfare and his views on race.

SEE THAT CLIVEN BUNDY IS ACTUALLY AN ADVOCATE FOR BLACKS, HISPANICS

Watch Bundy explain how we need to keep things from going backwards for blacks, and how the Federal government has created a neo-slave class via entitlement dependency that is so bad it is arguably worse than plantation slavery was. It is 100% clear that Cliven Bundy is not saying that blacks should be slaves picking cotton, but that the Federal government has created conditions for them so terrible, that their current situation may actually be worse. (If you are person of low intelligence, the fact that that is his point might be too hard for you to understand.)

Many Black Americans Come Out In Defense Of Cliven Bundy As Whites Duck & Cover

This black American man (Bundy bodyguard) says Bundy is not a racist and would take a bullet for him:

“Mr. Bundy is not a racist,” he told CNN. “Ever since I’ve been here, he’s treated me with nothing but hospitality. He’s pretty much treating me just like his own family.” “I would take a bullet for that man if need be. I look up to him just like I do my own grandfather,” he added. “I believe in his cause and after having met Mr. Bundy a few times.

  • Who Says We Can’t Arrest and Convict Corrupt Politicians?
I have written more than a few articles about corrupt politicians. And I think we can all agree that we’d like to see them behind bars. But that’s where the argument seems to die. We all want to see bad guys get their comeuppance; that’s not the issue, the problem seems to be “how.”  If any of you have had dealings with the Veterans Administration, for example, you know that it almost takes an act of God to get a federal employee fired.

  • Family Wins Fracking Suit in Legal Blow to Industry

n what is being called a legal blow to the fracking industry, on Tuesday a Texas family was awarded $3 million in the first ever verdict to be handed down over the negative health impacts of fracking.

Bob and Lisa Parr of Wise County sued Aruba Petroleum in 2011 for shale gas drilling operations which their lawyers said “fouled the family’s 40-acre ranch property, their home and quality of life,” by sickening both them and their daughter Emma, as well as their pets and livestock.

“They’re vindicated,” said Attorney David Matthews following the news of the verdict. “I’m really proud of the family that went through what they went through and said, ‘I’m not going to take it anymore. It takes guts to say, ‘I’m going to stand here and protect my family from an invasion of our right to enjoy our property.’”

    • Monsatan’s RoundUp Poison 125 Times More Dangerous than Regulators Admit
      Article image

If someone opened up a bottle of arsenic, would you drink it? This is a ridiculous rhetorical question, but if you asked regulators – would you eat a chemical concoction that has been found to be 125 times more toxic than glyphosate, the main toxic ingredient found in Monsanto’s RoundUp herbicide? It seems an equally insane inquiry, but even after numerous highly alarming studies published in journal after journal questioning the validity of Monsanto’s claims that RoundUp is ‘safe,’ government agencies continue to allow the herbicide to be sprayed. Will this latest study be the one to break them from their poison-induced lunacy?

    • McDonald’s to Add Lab-Grown ‘Chicken’ McNuggets to its Menu  April Foolery?

McDonald‘s just announced it will be the first fast food restaurant in the United States to add lab-grown meat to its menu. Following the success of Sergey Brin’s lab-grown burger experiment in London last year, McDonald’s says they will ‘grow’ their own chicken McNuggets in special laboratories across New Jersey. The move is expected to reduce the number of real chickens needed to supply the company’s 35,000 outlets across the globe.

Don Thompson, president and chief executive officer of McDonald’s, cited environmental concerns behind the company’s pledge to add lab-grown chicken McNuggets to their menu.

Portland's Draining An Entire Reservoir Because One Dude Peed In It

Urine trouble, Portland. Thirty-eight million gallons of treated, ready-to-drink water will be flushed into the Columbia River after a teenager peed in a city reservoir.

    • Portland teen speaks: ‘I did not pee in the water’

On April 16, surveillance cameras show Dallas Swonger appearing to pee in Portland, Oregon’s drinking reservoir. But the teen told CNN affiliate KATU, “I did not pee in the water.”

Swonger added, “I apologize….I didn’t know it was going to get national.” He said his friends dared him to do it, but he urinated on the fence near the Mount Tabor reservoir instead.

Regardless, the city has already flushed away 38 million gallons of drinking water as a precaution. Watch his side of the story.

    • Texas City Prepares to become First U.S. City to Convert Sewage into Water for Homes Wichita Falls has been going through a three-year drought that is worst than anything recorded since the 19th century. The Texas city of more than 100,000 residents has tried everything from spending money to seed clouds to posting signs urging everyone to “pray for rain.” But now Wichita Falls is going one step further than any municipality ever has to survive a drought—by recycling sewage and pumping it back into homes.

    • Understanding How Climatic Relationships Led To Major Ice Age Cycles  A new study has developed crucial new information about how the ice ages came about based on newly discovered relationships between deep-sea temperature and ice-volume changes. The international team of researchers, led by the University of Southampton, developed a new method for determining sea-level and deep-see temperature variability over the past 5.3 million years. Their findings were published in a recent issue of Nature. “Our work focused on the discovery of new relationships within the natural Earth system. In that sense, the observed decoupling of temperature and ice-volume changes provides crucial new information for our understanding of how the ice ages developed.” “However, there are wider implications too.  Our record is also of interest to climate policy developments, because it opens the door to detailed comparisons between past atmospheric CO2 concentrations, global temperatures, and sea levels, which has enormous value to long-term future climate projections.” The current team of researchers added a numerical model for calculating water exchange through the Strait of Gibraltar as a function of sea-level change. Professor Eelco Rohling of Australian National University, says, “This is the first step for reconstructions from the Mediterranean records. There are uncertainties involved, so we included wide-ranging assessments of these, as well as pointers to the most promising avenues for improvement. “Flow through the Strait will depend not only on the ocean’s volume, but also on how the land in the region moves up and down in response to the changing water levels. We use a global model of changes in the ocean and the ice sheets to estimate the deformation and gravity changes in the region, and how that will affect our estimate of global sea-level change,” he says.
