  • Like it or not, Microsoft Plans to Push Windows 10 Upgrade more Aggressively
This is no surprise that Microsoft wants you to install Windows 10.
But, Hey Microsoft, Not everyone wants to upgrade to Windows 10. Many people are happy with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 OS and don’t want to switch to the newest Windows 10 operating system.
Days after the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft started offering Free Windows 10 installation to every Windows user. The marketing strategy successfully worked for Microsoft and just within a week after the launch, Windows 10 started running on millions of PCs.
Then the company went into planning other tricks in order to get on to the maximum number of PCs as possible. It silently started pushing Windows 10 installation files on PCs running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, even if users have not opted into the upgrade.
Less than two months ago, some Windows 7 and 8.1 users also claimed that Windows 10 had begun to install itself automatically on their PCs, which Microsoft later called it a mistake.

More Aggressive Windows 10 Upgrade Strategy

Now, Microsoft is going to kick off a more aggressive Windows 10 Upgrade strategy.
The new operating system that showed up first as optional, and then as recommended download in Windows Update, will soon show up – “Yes, I want to upgrade.
Yes, those Windows 7 or 8.1 users who are trying to block the Windows 10 upgrade will find that the upgrade has just not gone away.
This is because Microsoft has recently made some changes to settings on Windows 7 and 8.1 machines that were previously configured not to receive the Windows 10 upgrade.
The settings have been reset in such a way that one of the updates that the company deployed on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 machines keeps on checking every day to make sure that no other changes are made to this behavior.
  • ‘Get Windows 10’ prompt adopts malware-like tactics to lure you into upgrading

Do you want to download Windows 10 now or now? That’s the question I found myself faced with when I opened an irregularly used Windows 8.1 laptop last night.

Once a small box begging for a reservation in the corner of the screen, the “Get Windows 10” pop-up prompt has morphed to consume the majority of the display, and worse, it only presents users with two clear actionable buttons: Upgrade now, and Start download, upgrade later. There’s no immediate “No thanks” option whatsoever.

  • Microsoft fools users into believing they aren’t being spied on by renaming data tracking device

In late July, Microsoft Windows 10 took the world by storm, as more than 14 million devices downloaded the software. Although most people were thrilled when the new version of Windows came out, the introduction of a background tracking device called DiagTrack has many people fearing for their privacy.

Microsoft withdrew downloads for its most recent version of Windows 10 – version 1511 – after it interfered with people’s privacy settings and enabled advertisers to obtain user identity. After the November MCT version disappeared over the weekend, it forced users to download the July version, which has its own glitches.

“Recently we learned of an issue that could have impacted an extremely small number of people who had already installed Windows 10 and applied the November update,” a spokesperson told The Register on Tuesday.(1)

“Once these customers installed the November update, a few of their settings preferences may have inadvertently not been retained. For these customers, we will restore their settings over the coming days and we apologize for the inconvenience. We worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible – it will not impact future installs of the November update, which is available today.”(1)

Keeping tabs on your every move

Windows 10 tracks your every move the moment you turn on your computer. The company saves customer information including names, credit card data and private passwords, supposedly to improve its services. Microsoft also reserves the right to share your information with unidentified third-party services. In addition, hackers could steal the information gathered by Microsoft.

But it gets worse. This year, Microsoft announced a new tracking service called DiagTrack, otherwise known as the Diagnostics Tracking Service. It was added to Windows 8.1 installations in addition to betas of Windows 10. It didn’t receive much traction by users, when it was introduced in May 14 in the form of a patch, KB3022345.(2)

  • Using GWX Control Panel (formerly GWX Stopper) to Permanently Remove the ‘Get Windows 10’ Icon

GWX Control Panel (previously named GWX Stopper) is a free program that you can use to do the following on Windows 7 and Windows 8:

    • Remove the “Get Windows 10” icon that appears in your notification area.
    • Prevent your Windows Update control panel from upgrading your computer to Windows 10.
    • Prevent your computer from secretly downloading Windows 10 installation files.
    • Detect and remove the hidden Windows 10 installation files if they’re already on your PC.
    • Optionally monitor your computer for unwanted Windows 10-related settings and files. (New in version 1.6.)

GWX Control Panel really works, is safe and easy to use, and gives you the option to re-enable the icon and upgrade notifications if you’re ever ready to move forward with Windows 10.

Manipulating Mentalness

  • Research Points To Mental Health Risks Associated With Meatless Diet

Many Americans have turned to a vegetarian diet for many different reasons. Maybe you just think it will make you generally more healthy. Perhaps you want to trim a few pounds. Maybe you want to supplement your already healthy lifestyle.

    However, will you be happier?

Some research suggests that the exact opposite is the truth and Women’s Health recently looked into some of the research and cautions people to be well aware of how going meatless can impact your mental health.

The article cites an Australian study from last year which found that vegetarians reported that they were less optimistic about their future more often than people who kept meat in their diets. That same study found that vegetarians were 18 percent more likely to report having depression and 28 percent more likely to experience panic attacks and anxiety.

  • The Scary Mental Health Risks of Going Meatless
More and more women are vegging out…of their minds. New research suggests that along with shedding pounds, slashing cancer risk, and boosting life expectancy, vegetarianism could come with lesser-known side effects: Panic attacks. OCD. Depression. WH investigates the puzzling blow of going meatless—and how to stay plant-based without going mental. Her symptoms were sudden and severe. Drew Ramsey’s 35-year-old patient had always been fit and active, but her energy had flatlined. When she did manage to drag herself to the gym, it didn’t help. She felt anxious and was often on the verge of tears for no reason, even when she was with friends. Worst of all were her panic attacks, a rare occurrence in the past but now so common that she was afraid of losing her job because she had trouble getting out of bed, and she’d become terrified of taking the New York City subway.
Ramsey, a Columbia University professor and psychiatrist with 14 years of experience, wanted to put her on medication. His patient demurred. She was so conscious of what she put in her body, she’d even given up meat a year ago, having heard about all the health benefits of vegetarianism. So Ramsey prescribed something else: grass-fed steak. It may sound like an episode of House, but Ramsey had a hunch. He’d seen a dramatic link between mood and food before (he even researched it for his forthcoming book Eat Complete), and guessed that his patient’s well-intentioned meat-free diet was the very thing causing her mental deterioration. Sure enough, six weeks after adding animal protein back onto her plate, her energy rebounded and her panic attacks dropped by 75 percent.

Protecting Who & When?

  • EPA Pushed to Withdraw Dow’s “Agent Orange” Herbicide Registration

Once in a while some good news breaks through after witnessing Monsanto, Syngenta, and Dow AgroSciences getting their way in the land of the free and brave (sarcasm intended) for decades. Other nations put up serious barriers to those companies while U.S. protective agencies, such as the EPA, rubber stamp corporate chemicals without thorough testing.

Earlier, a coalition of environmental activist and farmer groups petitioned and filed a suit against the EPA for registering Dow’s Enlist Duo herbicide. The EPA has essentially agreed to the coalition’s information, revealing they have not fully reviewed Enlist Duo’s range of toxic dangers to environments, other species, and humans.

Thus EPA has requested the Ninth District Court of Appeals to vacate it’s current registration approval of Dow’s Enlist Duo until they better understand the full extent of possible environmental hazards. So whether this is a bump in the agrochemical industries’ quest to poison everything or the beginning of the end of their domination remains to be seen.

Still, we can enjoy this battle victory within the long war for farm and food survival. “With this action, EPA confirms the toxic nature of this lethal cocktail of chemicals, and has stepped back from the brink,” said Paul Achitoff, managing attorney for Earthjustice.

  • Merck Vaccine Scientist Threatened With Jail Time For Trying to Expose Massive Vaccine Data Manipulation and Fraud

A Merck vaccine scientist was threatened with jail time for trying to expose the outright scientific fraud and data falsification being used by the vaccine industry to make its faulty products appear to work even when they don’t, according to a document filed with the United States government.

Former Merck virologist Stephen A Krahling tried to go to the FDA with evidence of vaccine research fraud taking place at Merck, but he was threatened with jail time by Merck’s own people, according to a False Claims Act document he and another co-worker filed with the federal government.

Merck senior management not only threatened jail time if the scientist exposed the fraud; they also attempted to pay him off with promises of financial bonuses if he kept quiet, the documents explain.

Pre-Planned Controls

  • After Paris Attacks, French Cops Want to Block Tor and Forbid Free Wi-Fi

After the recent Paris terror attacks, French law enforcement wants to have several powers added to a proposed law, including the move to forbid and block the use of the Tor anonymity network, according to an internal document from the Ministry of Interior seen by French newspaper Le Monde.

That document talks about two proposed pieces of legislation, one around the state of emergency, and the other concerning counter-terrorism.

Regarding the former, French law enforcement wish to “Forbid free and shared wi-fi connections” during a state of emergency. This comes from a police opinion included in the document: the reason being that it is apparently difficult to track individuals who use public wi-fi networks.

As the latter, law enforcement would like “to block or forbid communications of the Tor network.” The legislation, according to Le Monde, could be presented as early as January 2016.

Tor is a network of servers maintained by volunteers, which route a user’s traffic through several different points, obfuscating their original, and perhaps identifying, IP address. At first a project from the US Navy, and now attempting to diversify its funding, Tor has become more popular recently, especially after the 2013 Snowden revelations around various mass surveillance programs.

  • Declassified CIA Manual Shows How US Uses Bureaucracy to Destabilize Governments

When most people think of CIA sabotage, they think of coups, assassinations, proxy wars, armed rebel groups, and even false flags — not strategic stupidity and purposeful bureaucratic ineptitude. However, according to a declassified document from 1944, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), which later became the CIA, used and trained a curious breed of “citizen-saboteurs” in occupied nations like Norway and France.

The World War II-era document, called Simple Sabotage Field Manual, outlines ways in which operatives can disrupt and demoralize enemy administrators and police forces. The first section of the document, which can be read in its entirety here, addresses “Organizations and Conferences” — and how to turn them into a “dysfunctional mess”:

Insist on doing everything through “channels.” Never permit short-cuts to be taken in order to expedite decisions.
Make “speeches.” Talk as frequently as possible and at great length. Illustrate your “points” by long anecdotes and accounts of personal experiences.
When possible, refer all matters to committees, for “further study and consideration.” Attempt to make the committee as large as possible — never less than five.
Bring up irrelevant issues as frequently as possible.
Haggle over precise wordings of communications, minutes, resolutions.
Refer back to matters decided upon at the last meeting and attempt to re-open the question of the advisability of that decision.
Advocate “caution.” Be “reasonable” and urge your fellow-conferees to be “reasonable” and avoid haste which might result in embarrassments or difficulties later on.

On its official webpage, the CIA boasts about finding innovative ways to bring about sabotage, calling their tactics for destabilization “surprisingly relevant.” While they admit that some of the ideas may seem a bit outdated, they claim that Together they are a reminder of how easily productivity and order can be undermined.”

In a second section targeted at manager-saboteurs, the guide lists the following tactical moves:

In making work assignments, always sign out the unimportant jobs first. See that important jobs are assigned to inefficient workers.
Insist on perfect work in relatively unimportant products; send back for refinishing those which have the least flaw.
To lower morale and with it, production, be pleasant to inefficient workers; give them undeserved promotions.
Hold conferences when there is more critical work to be done.
Multiply the procedures and clearances involved in issuing instructions, paychecks, and so on. See that three people have to approve everything where one would do.

Finally, the guide presents protocol for how saboteur-employees can disrupt enemy operations, too:

    Work slowly.
Contrive as many interruptions to your work as you can.
Do your work poorly and blame it on bad tools, machinery, or equipment. Complain that these things are preventing you from doing your job right.
Never pass on your skill and experience to a new or less skillful worker.

The CIA is proud of its Kafkaesque field manual and evidently still views it as an unorthodox but effective form of destabilizing enemy operations around the world.

  • The Use Of Secret Courts Confirms The End Of Democracy In Britain
The use of secret courts is a place where trials take place that is not open to the public, nor generally reported in the news and generally no official record of the case or the judge’s verdict is made available. Often there is no legal allegation. The accused is usually not able to obtain the counsel of an lawyer or confront witnesses for the prosecution, and the proceedings are characterised by a perceived miscarriage of justice to the benefit of the ruling powers of the society. This is the stuff of cold war Russia and Nazi Germany – right? Think again.
  • Connecticut asks for ‘no-fly’ list to screen gun buyers

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy jumped into a roiling national debate over gun control, civil liberties and terrorism Thursday by revealing he has asked the White House for  access to the U.S. government’s “no-fly” list and other terrorism watch lists to screen firearms purchases in Connecticut.

“I intend to sign a first-in-the-nation executive order, one that will result in banning the sale of guns to those on government watch lists,” Malloy said in an early afternoon press conference.

The White House was publicly non-committal on whether it would share what has been a closely guarded and much criticized screening tool. Malloy said his request for access to the federal data was well-received, but was “going through channels.”

  • Major Victory for Damascus as Rebels Agree to Give up the City of Homs

A deal has been reached for thousands of insurgents to leave the last opposition-held neighborhood in the central city of Homs and for state institutions to return to the area, an opposition monitoring group and a Syrian official said Tuesday.

Homs residents were among the first to rise up against President Bashar Assad in 2011, and the city was once known as “the capital of the revolution.” Government forces gradually retook the entire city except for the Waer neighborhood, where the latest deal was reached. The departure of the insurgents will leave Syria’s third largest city under complete government control.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said some 3,200 fighters will leave Waer for other areas in Syria held by insurgents. The group said the deal, agreed to by the government and several rebel factions, will also include a cease-fire, release of prisoners and the return of state institutions.

Homs Governor Talal Barrazi told The Associated Press that the implementation of the deal will begin early next week and take a maximum of two months.

Psychopaths Agree: Bomb & Ban & Bomb

  • Dick Cheney attacks Trump for ‘ban Muslims’ comments; former VP fine with illegally bombing Muslims, but not banning them
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Monday called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States in the most dramatic response by a candidate yet to last week’s shooting spree by two Muslims who the FBI said had been radicalized. “We have no choice,” Trump said at a rally in South Carolina, warning of more Sept. 11-style attacks if stern measures are not taken. Trump’s statement on “preventing Muslim immigration” drew swift and fierce blow-back from many directions, including the White House, rivals for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton and Republican former Vice President [sic] Dick Cheney, who said the idea “goes against everything we stand for and believe in.”

  • Pope kicks off special Jubilee year of mercy

Uttering a centuries-old command, Pope Francis on Tuesday opened a “Holy Door” of St Peter’s basilica to kick off an extraordinary Jubilee year, while urging his Church to reach out to the modern world.

“This is the door of the Lord. Open to me the gates of justice,” the Argentinian pontiff said before being helped up three marble steps to push the giant bronze doors open.

In a break with tradition that reflected Francis’s modernising instincts, the order to open the doors was delivered in Italian rather than Latin.

  • World leaders are about to announce an unprecedented climate change deal in Paris

After four years of fraught U.N. talks often pitting the interests of rich nations against poor, imperiled island states against rising economic powerhouses, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will unveil the latest text of a climate deal on Saturday at 9 a.m. (0300 ET).

He hopes to secure a sweeping agreement to curb rising greenhouse gas emissions within hours. If that fails, the talks could run into Sunday.

  • Landmark Climate-Change Agreement Hailed as ‘Leap for Mankind’

The world’s nations took the boldest steps yet to stem climate change, adopting an historic package of measures to limit fossil-fuel pollution and establish a mechanism to step up the reductions for decades.

After two weeks of intense negotiations overseen by the United Nations, envoys from 195 nations in Paris on Saturday endorsed a program that also set an ambitious goal to curb temperature increases and set up ways to measure and verify emissions everywhere.

French President Francois Hollande hailed the deal as the “first universal agreement in the history of climate negotiations” and “a major leap for mankind.” U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who spent days in Paris negotiating, said it the deal sends “a critical message to the global marketplace.” UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon called it a “monumental triumph.”
