‘You don’t fight poverty with charity’

Is the richest man in the world, Carlos Slim, a libertarian? Via scotsman.com:
Slim said: “You don’t fight poverty with charity, with donations or with social assistance…
[...]
Reflecting on his public profile, Slim said recently: “When you live for others’ opinions, you are dead. I don’t want to live thinking about how I’ll be remembered.”
[...]
• On wealth: “It is like an orchard, a fruit tree. You have to distribute the fruit, not the branch. You have to plant more seeds to create more wealth.”
Sure sounds like it.
He is certainly one of the most down-to-earth billionaires since Sam Walton. Examples: he does not have a computer, lives in a modest home and is very thrifty.

Two IRS terrorists harass business owner over four cents

Bob Shallit reports:
Arriving at Harv’s Metro Car Wash in midtown Wednesday afternoon were two dark-suited IRS agents demanding payment of delinquent taxes. “They were deadly serious, very aggressive, very condescending,” says Harv’s owner, Aaron Zeff.
The really odd part of this: The letter that was hand-delivered to Zeff’s on-site manager showed the amount of money owed to the feds was … 4 cents.
How much did it cost to send these thieves to collect that four cents?

Economic numbers game

Ever notice how the government will revise a figure weeks after it first hits the headlines?  Recently these revisions have been drastically on the negative side and rarely receive the amount of media attention as the initial, much rosier figures.  Case in point: the surprise increase in February retail sales. Michael Panzner reveals why the numbers were so good:
Absent the [January] revision, the February numbers would have constituted a decline.
After boobus absorbs how much better they want you to believe the economy is getting, watch for a quiet February downward revision to make March look even better.

Census: Only answer ONE question

This video itemizes the fundamental legal questions that the Census Bureau refuses or fails to answer about its collection and use of personal information from every American:

Consumer Metrics Institute

Via EconomicPolicyJournal.com:
This is a revolutionary new daily source of spin-free hard data about the demand side of the economy. It does not involve any governmental sources. It does not utilize ’seasonal adjustments’ (all numbers are year-over-year). It is simply based on real-time U.S. consumer transactions…

New World ID Order

Nathan Allonby reports:
Simultaneous introduction of biometric, smart ID cards around the world is not just a coincidence, it is not merely due to nations copying effective schemes in other nations, and is not just a phenomenon related to the sudden maturity of technology. Implementation of these ID card schemes was pushed. It is being driven in a coordinated programme, via international organisations and conferences, led by the US and the European Union (EU).
It is no coincidence that when the “Patriot Act” was implemented in the U.S., almost identical bills were passed in other countries. Global government is not coming sometime in the future, it is here, now. For a group that claims to conspiracies don’t exist, they sure do conspire a lot.

Universal insurance for… everything!

Obama is a mean, old, selfish conservative in liberal clothing. I mean really, where is the outcry for universal pet insurance? How inhumane can this man possibly be to let pets suffer and die because their owners couldn’t afford Rover’s medication, prosthetic leg or even heart transplant?
How about food insurance? There are many people that go hungry. If we had free food insurance we would surely solve that problem immediately. Since the U.S. government thinks of itself as the only super-power tasked with policing the world, I suggest our benevolence be extended across the globe. What kind of people would we be if we provided free food insurance to only our selfish selves, and not the rest of the world? That would just not be right. Everybody has a right to a Big Mac!
Let’s not forget clothing. We can’t expect anyone to go without. That would be inhumane and un-American. I suggest we implement free clothing insurance immediately.

CIA Mockingbird Media

Kurt Nimmo reports:
Lewd references to Eric Massa and 24/7 coverage of mindless bread and circuses covered by the corporate media are no mistake. By the early 1950s, the CIA owned the corporate media and used it to promulgate propaganda.
Former Wall Street lawyer Frank Wisner created Operation Mockingbird in 1948 and recruited Philip Graham of the Washington Post to run the project. Mockingbird eventually controlled news reported by the New York Times, Newsweek, the New York Herald Tribune, Time Magazine, and hundreds of other newspapers and magazines in the United States and around the world.
By the 1950s, according to Alex Constantine (Mockingbird: The Subversion Of The Free Press By The CIA), “some 3,000 salaried and contract CIA employees were eventually engaged in propaganda efforts.” Wisner was also able to restrict newspapers from reporting about certain events. For example, the CIA plots to overthrow the governments of Iran and Guatemala.

Buying a home

Very funny comedy skit about buying a home:

Thomas Jefferson Quote of the Day

"For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security."
