I recently went to a conference where Ammon Bundy was speaking. He shared a dream that his father had about a large building which housed a golden calf.
Many people were going into the building to worship, but he knew in his heart that he shouldn’t.
Cliven Bundy explained that the golden calf was the court system. He explained that there is no way to preserve our rights there.
We have to claim our rights by using them, not pleading for a judge to grant to us what is already ours. God has given us our rights–
they are inalienable or un-a-lien-able. These words mean that something cannot be transferred to another. A lien is “a right to keep possession of
[something] belonging to another person until a debt…is discharged.” Our rights cannot be lien-ed. They cannot be transferred,
not to a judge or any other human tribunal. Our rights (to property, to speech, to worship, to assemble) come from God. And if we don’t exercise them,
we will lose them.
