Week 28 of 2019 brings you more interesting and fun stories. (Grim Leftovers – Episode 30)
Today’s show was a bit different than the typical “Leftovers” shows that I typically do here. I only covered a single article:
Milgram Experiment from Simply Psychology
After finishing the article I gave my thoughts and personal experiences on how I believe this article explains a lot of what is going on in today’s world and how it has been going on since the dawn of civilization.
People buy into the myth of authority for a wide variety of reasons, but mostly it comes down to the same thing: It’s easier.
My recommendations to people would be:
° Try and think for yourself, understand the reasons for what you are doing.
° Try and be a good person, to yourself and to others around you.
° Don’t look at or think of others as part of a group, but as individuals (because that’s what they are).
° If someone is doing something you disapprove of, try and see things from their perspective.
Of course, these are only very generalized concepts. There are people out there that do actually do wish to do harm to others and that is unacceptable. but if you give people the benefit of the doubt, that they are a good person, unless and until they prove you wrong, then I think you have done all you can.
The world is a crazy place, and almost always because of people’s belief in authority (or authoritah if you prefer ).
Anyway, just listen to podcast and enjoy.
