Redneck Dentist – Episode 10

Thought of the week – Isn’t banning Menthol cigarettes racist?

Racist ban on menthol cigarettes from CDC’s own website

Young people and African Americans are more likely to smoke menthol cigarettes than other groups.1,3

  • More than half (54%) of youth ages 12-17 years who smoke use menthol cigarettes.6
    • That percentage is higher than the percentage of adults 18 and older who smoke menthol cigarettes.6
    • A nationwide study showed that among smokers who started smoking as young adults (over age 18), a majority first started smoking using menthol cigarettes.7,8
  • The majority of African Americans who smoke use menthol cigarettes.3
    • Seven out of 10 African American youth ages 12-17 who smoke use menthol cigarettes.6
    • A higher percentage of black adults who smoke started by using menthol cigarettes (93%) than white adults who smoke (44%).8
    • Non-Hispanic black adults have the highest percentage of menthol cigarette use compared to other racial and ethnic groups.6 In 2014-2015, 76.8% of non-Hispanic black adults who smoked usually used menthol cigarettes, compared to 34.7% of Hispanic adults and 24.6% of white adults.9

Not to mention that now that the economy is about to tank the US government thinks it would be a great idea to have a black life get 51% of all businesses. You know, appoint a black person to the board, and give them a 51% stake in the business. Isn’t that awesome when the economy is about to tank and we are already facing hyper inflation and shortages?

Real Covid Numbers

Let’s take a deep close look at Covid.

I am going to assume, with some justified rationality that Influenza A and Influenza B did not disappear in 2020. Unlike it seems every single “news” or journalistic source that most Americans seem to be watching or listening to have assumed that Influenzas disappeared altogether, which I guess we can thank Covid for completely eradicating Influenza as we knew it. Who would have guessed that all we needed to do all this time was just invent a different virus and viola, no more influenza! See how simple that was? Think of all the money spent on research all of these years, in all those institutes of higher learning, and all those department of defense labs and research centers, only to find out we could have eradicated influenza with another virus. I think many of us truly understood that any flu like illness was being counted as Covid. Now, this could have good and bad implications. For example, let’s assume that Influenza A and B existed in the population in the same concentration as it did in 2019, and that deaths attributed to Covid WERE actually due to Covid, Covid only and NONE to the flu. If that were the case then Covid would have a MUCH higher Infection Fatality Rate than it does now, simply because if we subtract the number of flu cases from the overall number of cases attributed to Covid, and only deaths were attributed to Covid,

# of Flu A

# of Flu B

# of Covid – 32.3 million

# of Flu A Deaths

# of Flu B Deaths

# of Covid Deaths -375,000 in 2020 but these are not ACTUAL NUMBERS

Provisional death estimates provide an early indication of shifts in mortality trends. Timely and actionable data can guide public health policies and interventions for populations experiencing higher numbers of deaths that are directly or indirectly associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Daily totals reported by CDC COVID-19 case surveillance are timely but can underestimate numbers of deaths because of incomplete or delayed reporting.

COVID-19 was reported as the underlying cause of death or a contributing cause of death for an estimated 377,883 (11.3%) of those deaths (91.5 deaths per 100,000).

Numbers and rates of COVID-19 deaths include deaths for which COVID-19 was listed on the death certificate as a confirmed or presumed underlying cause of death or contributing cause of death (ICD-10 code U07.1).

# of True Covid infections = Covid infections – (# of flu A + # of flu B)

# of True Covid Deaths = Covid Deaths – (# of flu A Deaths + # of Flu B Deaths)

2018 2019 flu stats

CDC estimates that influenza was associated with more than 35.5 million illnesses, more than 16.5 million medical visits, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths during the 2018–2019 influenza season.

2019-2020 flu stats

CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2019–2020 season was moderate with an estimated 38 million people sick with flu, 18 million visits to a health care provider for flu, 400,000 hospitalizations for flu, and 22,000 flu deaths  (Table 1). The number of cases of influenza-associated illness, medically attended illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths were lower than some more recent seasons and similar to other seasons where influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses dominated (7, 8).

Deaths due to the flu 2020

Preliminary CDC estimates for the 2019-2020 influenza season indicate that, as of April 4, 2020, between 24,000 and 62,000 lost their lives to the flu. Add to that the misery of hundreds of thousands of flu-related hospitalizations and millions of medical visits for flu symptoms.

Overall, the CDC estimates that 12,000 and 61,000 deaths annually since 2010 can be blamed on the flu. The higher number reflects the particularly harsh 2017-2018 flu season. Most years, the US death toll from the flu is closer to 34,000 to 43,000. Globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year.

Deaths due to flu 2018

During the 2017-2018 season, the percentage of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza (P&I) was at or above the epidemic threshold for 16 consecutive weeks. During the past five seasons, the average number of weeks this indicator was above threshold was 11 (range of 7 to 15 weeks). Nationally, mortality attributed to P&I exceeded 10.0% for four consecutive weeks, peaking at 10.8% during the week ending January 20, 2018. Why didn’t we have a national crisis and lock down in 2018?

Isn’t the Eagle an excellent representation of America? Eagles look so majestic out in the world soaring about. But did you know that once an eagle is in captivity, and it brought food in their cages, they are quite content to stay there? Just like most of the American people as we have found during the covid lockdown. We looked (to others) like we were so free and proud, but once we were locked down and given “food” in the form of government checks to stay home, we all seemed quite content to do just that. Is there any life left in Liberty? I know I am preaching to the choir here, mostly on Real Liberty Media. People here have given a lot of thought to living independently or living differently than the status quo. My desire is that the People of the United States wake up and see that their liberty has already been stripped of them and that it will take nothing short of a revolution to restore it. Has the bleeding stopped? Maybe so.

We think that after world wars I and II that all countries, especially the larger first world countries were satisfied with being what they are with what they have, but history tells us that all powers constantly seek more power.

A thought occurred to me. A country can not exist without a government but once a government is elected or appointed, they generally put their interest (more power) in front of the interests of those that elected or appointed them.
