The announcement Saturday was made by the Ohio-based attorney, who remains involved in several major cases brought against federal agencies relating to fraud and violations of medical freedom rights.
Oregon state Sens. Kim Thatcher and Dennis Linthicum, both Republicans, have petitioned Acting U.S. Attorney Scott E. Asphaug to launch a grand jury investigation into the measurement of COVID-19 statistics by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Regarding the diagnosis of COVID-19 through widely-used PCR tests, the senators said that the CDC and the FDA’s setting of one particular test parameter—the cycle threshold—generated “false positives resulting in inflated numbers of COVID cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.”
Harvard epidemiologist Dr. Michael Mina told The New York Times in August 2020 that tests with too high of a threshold may detect not just live viruses but also genetic fragments. Mina suggested setting the cut-off at 30 cycles or less.
“Additionally, we are profoundly concerned that the scientific literature continues to provide empirical evidence that safe and effective treatments and management strategies for COVID infections exist but are not being made available to Americans most in need,” continued the letter.
Stand for Health Freedom (SHF), a non-profit organization that helped with the petition, said in a statement that the petition was submitted one month before public release to “protect those involved.”
SHF also cited a March 2020 study (pdf) alleging that the CDC over-emphasized COVID-19 as the cause of death in compiling its statistics while “circumvent[ing] multiple federal laws” in the process.
A homeowner in California got a surprise after calling a reptile rescue to handle a few rattlesnake sightings in their home: They were sharing their space with at least 92 of the snakes. Sonoma County Reptile Rescue director Al Wolf pulled 22 adult rattlesnakes and 59 babies from the house’s foundations, and later returned to remove 11 more. The area was ideal for rattlesnake denning, Wolf told the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, because most of the rocks in the ground had been left in when the home’s foundation was dug. Wolf released the snakes in an area away from human habitation.
The foundations may have been a rookery, or a place where rattlesnakes gather in large numbers to give birth, said Emily Taylor, a herpetologist at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, who also does rattlesnake relocations. That would explain the large number of babies, Taylor told Live Science. However, the choice of a home’s foundations for a rookery is surprising, she said.
We have our own version of this phenomenon at the homestead here in Sheridan. It has happened two years in a row and luckily these are not rattlesnakes they are simple garter snakes.
Come spring-time, these piles of snakes emerge from their den. Males are ready to mate after their second hibernation, while females mate after three years. The males swarm when the females awaken, beginning the mating ball. In these balls, dozens of males compete amongst themselves to woo one female. During these few weeks after waking, males will not eat nor display acts of aggression. They are solely focused on courting and mating. In this odd mix of pseudo-polyandry (while up to hundreds of males court one female, the first few males to successfully copulate often prevents subsequent copulations from competitors via a mating plug (Shine et al 2003), and the females’ pheromone titrates plummet (Uhrig et al 2012)), both species have developed a host of strategies, not only to increase their reproductive fitness, but also just to survive this violent onslaught.
